Lt. General Hoshino Toshimoto Shingunto
with Special Order Made 30 inch Showa blade
and Generals Officers Tassel

Rare WW2 generals officers type 98 shingunto with a special order made showa blade circa 1940 ordered by Lt. General Hoshino Toshimoto.
The blade is thick, wide, and long with a massive 30 inch cutting edge and long 1-3/4 inch kissaki. Beautiful well controlled gunome hamon and muji hada. Original wartime polish with some very minor surface stains.
Signed: Noshu Seki Ju Matsuda Kanetaka and  Ozu Hoshino Shi Ju (Ordered by Mr Hoshino)
Lt. General Hoshino surrendered to the Americans and photographs show that he was a quite a tall man compared to the average Japanese soldiers of the time.
The type 98 shingunto koshirae with general officers tassel is in beautiful condition and all original to the blade.
